Aboriginal art workshops at Sea Acres

The next exhibition at Sea Acres Rainforest Centre starts on 11 November and will feature works by Dalang GaRumba and friends – local Aboriginal people who share their connection to country through a variety of arts and crafts. There is an open day on Friday 13 November from 10am to 12noon and all are welcome to attend.

Bush Tucker Month is coming to Sea Acres

Sea Acres, home to one of the most diverse coastal rainforests in NSW, celebrates its connection to the Birpai people and their culture during Bush Tucker Month, which runs from October 21st to November 21st 2009.

Bush Tucker month is part of the 2009 Holiday Coast Credit Union Tastings of the Hastings program, offering visitors an inviting program of Bush Tucker experiences.

Take a guided Bush Tucker tour with local Aboriginal Elder Bill O’Brien, sample the tempting menu of the Rainforest Café created using locally grown and Australian native bush foods, and learn how to cook with Barbara Barlin from Barbushco using the fabulous flavours of native bush foods and spices. Bush Tucker Tours held under the majestic canopy of subtropical rainforest, includes information about Aboriginal uses of rainforest plants and insights into local Aboriginal culture and history. Bush Tucker Tours are suitable for families and young adults and will be held every Saturday from 24th October to 21st November, from 1 to 3.30pm.

Artist Scott Jackson exhibiting at Sea Acres

Mid North Coast Artist Scott Jackson will be presenting his 10th Solo Exhibition at Sea Acres Rainforest Centre, Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie.

The Exhibition will run from 18 August 2009 until 28 September 2009.

The Exhibition will showcase Original Paintings, Limited Edition Prints and Artist Made Cards depicting themes associated with the Bush, Beach, Rainforest and Coastal Environments.

Entry is free and all are welcome.
