$20,000 grant for your community project

Port Macquarie Panthers and Tooheys are thrilled to announce their partnering to present Renovate Your Community.

Six local community organisations will have the opportunity to be part of Renovate Your Community. The organisation who receives the most votes from the community will receive a $20,000 grant for their project. Applications for community organisations will be available online at www.portmacquarie.panthers.com.au or from Club reception from 15 January.

Applications will be received up until 15 February. These applications will be considered by the Renovate Your Community Committee consisting of Andrew Roach (Port Macquarie Hastings Council General Manager), Peter Besseling MP (Independent Member for Port Macquarie) and representatives from both Panthers and Tooheys.

Local clubs supporting the community

The presentation of $96,857 in cheques to various organisations by 5 local Clubs will be held on Monday 24th August 10.00am at The Westport Club. The organisations were successful in applying through the 2008-2009 CDSE Funding Round which is conducted under the auspices of the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing CDSE Guidelines.

The 5 Clubs involved in the Hastings Local CDSE Committee include:

• Port Macquarie Panthers
• The Westport Club
• North Haven Bowling and Recreation Club
• Laurieton United Services Club|
• Port City Bowling Club

58 eligible submissions were received requesting $232,770. The Committee met in July and were assisted by representatives from the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, NCOSS and DoCS to determine which projects would be funded. The Committee was pleased to be able to fully fund 26 projects plus one project received two thirds of their requested funds.

Hastings Youth Theatre finds a new home

Port Macquarie Panthers is now officially the home of Hastings Youth Theatre. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented by this newly formed group to the Management team of Port Panthers, Mr Russell Cooper and Mrs Janette Hyde for their sponsorship of the debut performance of ‘Utter Garbage’ in the Panthers magnificent Auditorium.

This was the Hastings Youth Theatre’s first  production. Not only the talented young actors showed their remarkable skills, but the parents and tutors. Costumes, props, set construction, make up and hair styles were carried out by these caring and supportive people, who were determined to show the outstanding talent that we have in our children of the Hastings.

Chamber members enjoy a great evening

Over 100 Chamber of Commerce members and guests enjoyed a great evening at the Glasshouse last night at the July Chamber of Commerce Information and Networking Evening.

The night focused on the Glasshouse, the diverse range of events it can accommodate, happenings to date and the way forward from here. All present, enjoyed the an update from Council General Manager, Andrew Roach, insights into Glasshouse capabilities and opportunities (including a behind the scenes tour) by Robyn Birrell, Glasshouse Arts Director, and an introduction to the fine food and beverages on offer from Panthers, the Glasshouse catering contractor, by Panthers General Manager, Russell Cooper.
