PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms at Rydges

Health-conscious travelers – especially those suffering from allergies and asthma – may now sleep and breathe better thanks to the introduction of PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms at Rydges Port Macquarie

In a first for the hospitality industry across Australia & New Zealand, Rydges Port Macquarie, Rydges World Square, Rydges Parramatta, Rydges Campbelltown and now offer PURE allergy friendly rooms to their guests in response to growing concerns over rising consumer health issues and costs associated with allergic reactions.

Asthma and allergies affect 4 in 10 Australians and that number is expected to increase.

PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms undergo a multistep cleaning process designed to remove up to 98 percent of allergens.

“We take a six-step process and convert an existing hotel room into a very healthy, allergy friendly environment,” says Ian Campbell, Managing Director of Pure Rooms (Pacific) Pty Ltd. based in Sydney.

That six-step process cuts down on things like bacteria, pollen and dust.

All surfaces including walls, carpeting and bedcovers are sanitized and treated with a microbial shield to make them resistant to bacteria and viruses. The air conditioning system is cleaned and sanitized and a tea tree oil cartridge installed in the system which acts as a natural antiseptic and disinfectant to maintain sanitary conditions. ‘Allergy friendly bed and pillow casings’ are placed on all bedding thereby ensuring that guests have a comfortable sleep. In addition, a state-of-the-art air purifier is installed in the room which circulates air through filters four to five times per hour thereby further ensuring that the air remains allergy friendly and healthy.

The room also undergoes a minimum 2 hour ozone shock treatment that kills any remaining odour and bacteria.

Allergy friendly accommodation appeals to health-conscious travelers who are sensitive to odours as well as those who suffer from allergies, asthma and other respiratory illnesses. “When you walk into a PURE Room you notice the difference immediately,” comments David Capper, GM of Rydges Port Macquarie, “the air is crisp and clean, and as our guests continue to focus on wellness, we’re excited to be able to be the first in Australia & New Zealand to offer them PURE Rooms as a healthy alternative.”
