The Port Macquarie Tourism Ambassadors are a very active group of 16 volunteers who are passionate about Port Macquarie.
They are auspiced by the Tourism and Events Department of Port Macquarie Hastings Council and the Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association.
The Tourism Ambassadors consist of residents of Port Macquarie who are passionate about where they live and are keen to ensure that all visitors to the area experience the myriad of activities available in the Greater Port Macquarie region.
The Ambassadors are easily identified in their aqua blue shirts walking the streets of Port Macquarie and assisting staff in the Visitors Information Centre.
The Ambassadors actively support the organisers of major events while they are using Port Macquarie as their venue – whether it is a conference, sporting activity or other event requiring friendly faces and expert knowledge of the area.
It is a rewarding job, with the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and countries of the world – encouraging our tourists to visit various attractions and focal points found in the Greater Port Macquarie region.
With the increase in tourists to the region and also the increase in numbers of people using the air services into Port Macquarie, the Ambassador Group is always looking for additional volunteers. At this stage, due to the Tourism Ambassador numbers they can only service holiday times and major events.
For anyone wishing to join the Tourism Ambassadors, please ring the group’s co-ordinator Peter Goodwin on 6582 1102. They can always use a few more volunteers to support this fantastic role.
